Toto – Hydra

This square shaped disc contains the song “99” on side one and “Hydra” on side two.

Made in the U.S.A. by the Fitzgerald/Hartley Co., This record, is housed in a folder-like sleeve and sealed with a sword shaped sticker.
Released as “Promotional Only”, this disc had a production of only “100” copies for the 99/Hydra version. Another version, that contains the same songs, appeared with the call sign of station “KORL” in Hawaii on the back. This also was issued in a quantity of “100”.

A third version of this disc, contains the songs, “Saint George and the Dragon” on side one, and “White Sister” on side two.  The graphics and overall general appearance of the disc is the same as the version pictured here.

If production followed suit, as with the version containing “99”, the pressing would be placed at 100 units.

Toto Hydra Picture Disc

The library of the Vinyl Underground is proud to be in possession of both, “Saint George and the Dragon”, along with the “99” versions.

The record comes in a full color gatefold sleeve and is accompanied by a lyric sheet.
This disc had a pressing of 1,000 copies and is a product of the Czecho and Slovakia Federation Republic.

This is the debut album for “Asia” which featured the hit single “Heat of the Moment”. The band’s line-up includes Steve Howe from “Yes”, John Wetton of “King Crimson”, and Carl Palmer from “Emerson, Lake And Palmer”.
This picture disc was printed and pressed in the United Kingdom and contains a wonderfully illustrated front side as does all the Asia discs.

Additionally, it is stated on the back of the LP that the disc was “Printed and manufactured in Australia for promotional use only.” Although, based upon the quality of the graphics, we question the authenticity of this pressing.

This album would debut the voice of Jimmy Farrar replacing Danny Joe Brown. Sales of this LP would drop off because of the change in the line-up. Never the less, the popularity of this picture disc still runs high.
This is disc three of the four Molly Hatchet pic discs which appeared as a promo and with a pressing of a very low 1350 copies.
